TACUBAYA
Tacubaya was assigned the control number "41" in 1868, at least it was the 41st invoice and the stamps were prepared and allocated for Tacubaya. There is much argument whether the stamps were ever sent to the sub-office as none have ever been found used from Tacubaya and with the "41" district number. Instead, several pieces have been found with a district number of "1" and the two digit date and the "Mexico" overprint. Therefore, although the invoice #41 showed an allocation of stamps, the actual stamps that were pulled from stock and sent were stamps already overprinted in Mexico City.

| The two stamps above show a district number of "41" and a date of 68. But stamps with "41" and "68" were not delivered to any district. The first recorded usage of district number "41" is Guadalajara in 1869 through 1872. | |
