GUANAJUATO

[Guanajuato Diligencias Cover] [Guanajuato Diligencia] [Abasolo] [Irapuato] [La Luz Cover] [Leon] [Penjamo] [San Felipe] [San Franciscodel Rincon] [Villa de Santiago] [Villa de Santiago Cover] [Silao]

Cover mailed from Guanajuato to Guadalajara on October 10, 1871. It travelled on the Diligencias (stagecoach) between the two addresses.
The thing that makes this folded letter interesting is that the two stamps, a 12 centavo and 25 centavo stamp, bear two different district name overprints. The 12 centavo stamp bears a wider and shorter overprint than the 25 centavo stamp.
La Luz, a small sub-office of Guanajuato, cover mailed to Mexico City and bearing a 25 centavo stamp to cover the distance.
A single and pair of 12 centavo stamps pays the rate for additional weight from Villa de Santiago (a Guanajuato sub-office) to Guanajuato.
